Responsibilities

Job Summary:

Acts in the role of Lead Endoscopy Technician overseeing the daily technical operations of the Endoscopy Unit while functioning as an Endoscopy Instrument Supply and Patient Care Technician.

Job Standards:

Oversees the daily technical operations of the Endoscopy Department.

  • Assists nursing staff in providing patient care, assists in meeting patient and family education needs and maintains continuity of care by processing patient records accurately and promptly from admission to discharge.
  • Communicates regularly with the Clinical Supervisor and other supervisory personnel about technical issues in the Endoscopy Unit. Relays verbal and written information in a timely manner.
  • Serves as a role model to technical staff.
  • Serves as a resource to the Endoscopy staff members.
  • Oversees delegation of responsibilities to Endoscopy Technicians as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates effective communication techniques to constructively address and resolve conflict.

Demonstrates advanced knowledge of endoscopic related equipment

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of normal gastrointestinal and pulmonary anatomy and physiology.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of disease entities associated with the pulmonary and gastrointestinal systems.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of endoscope handling and reprocessing and keeps current with standards.
  • Keeps current with advances in endoscopic equipment.
  • Troubleshoots Endoscopy equipment as necessary, initiates Biomed work orders and locates equipment.

Organizes and maintains unit supplies.

  • Maintains accurate records for endoscopic high- level disinfection, scope repairs and supply orders.
  • Oversees technical staff to assure that adequate supply levels and instrumentation are maintained. Assist in the ordering process. Interacts with Endoscopy supply company representatives to facilitate orders.
  • Oversees scope repairs. Assists technical staff in expediting scope repairs. Interacts with repair company representatives in facilitating repairs.


Qualifications

Minimum:

Experience:

Minimum of two-years experience in the Endoscopy setting as an Endoscopy Technician. T

Education:

HS Diploma or equivalent required

Certifications:

American Heart Association- BLS
