Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. It is one of the area’s largest and most comprehensive medical centers. Dedicated to the community’s well-being our staff and volunteers provide excellence in care for our patients each year. Mercy San Juan Medical Center has received recognition for being a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery along with Certificates of Excellence in Perinatal Care Hip- and Knee- Replacement.


Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Incumbent performs in-vivo studies, therapeutic & diagnostic imaging procedures according to written or transcribed verbal orders of a physician within the scope of his/her certification according to established standards and practices and the SNM Scope of Practice. The Incumbent works under the direction of the Sr. Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Nuclear Medicine Supervisor, and Nuclear Medicine Physicians. Required to participate in the departments call schedule to ensure coverage weeknights, weekends, and holidays. May have access to or be required to distribute drugs, needles or syringes from storage locations, (such as large stock supplies, automated dispensing units and other carts) to/within patient care areas or treatment carts as defined by hospital policy/procedure.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of a JRCNMT certified program required
  • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Current CA license certified in Nuclear Medicine
  • Knowledge of:
    • Anatomy and physiology including cross sectional relationships
    • Medical terminology relating to nuclear medicine
    • Principles of operation and care of nuclear medicine equipment
    • Perform currently accepted diagnostic therapeutic and in-vivo nuclear medicine procedures
    • Radiation safety requirements and practices for the operator patient and public
    • Mechanical and electrical safety practices and requirements in the patient examination environment -
    • Basic and advanced computer applications utilized in the healthcare environment
    • Local Sate and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Ability to:
    •  Prepare and use radiopharmaceuticals
    • Recognize and respond to allergic reactions and other life-threatening patient conditions
    • Effectively and empathetically deal with agitated ill and distressed patients
    • Maintain confidentiality of patient records and information
    • Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with physicians and other healthcare personnel
    • Coordinate several assignments and establish work priorities
    • Accurately operate and care for Information System computers in the department
    • Work independently on-call covering all normal clerical and technical functions

Preferred:

  • 2 years Competency in Nuclear Medicine and Venipuncture
  • NMTCB or ARRT certification
