Overview

Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. Responsibilities

Works under the direction of the Rehab Manager to participate in the development, implementation, continuous improvement, and ongoing sustainability of the facility’s progressive mobility programs. Provides support to the safe patient handling, rehab, nursing, and respiratory teams to facilitate and coordinate the resources and staff needed to safely engage patients in early and ongoing progressive mobility programs. Assists the facility in establishing a culture of safety by educating staff on the decision-making process related to the utilization of safe patient handling equipment when mobilizing patients.

  • Assist leaders and staff to organize, launch, and sustain the facility’s early and ongoing progressive mobility programs for
    MSJMC and strategically aligns this initiative with other hospital initiatives.
  • Participate and contribute expertise to other initiatives that support patient outcomes such as; fall and pressure ulcer
    prevention, bariatric programs and progressive mobility programs.
  • Promote awareness and SPHM programs to internal and external entities (i.e. ambulance and fire services and nursing
    students present in the facilities).
  • Collaborate with and assist SPHM, Rehab, Nursing, and Respiratory Therapy leaders with analyzing data, identifying and
    implementing potential strategies to enhance early and ongoing progressive mobility program outcomes related to
    reducing patient handling injuries, length of stay, and hospital acquired conditions.
  • Initiate/participate in unit based meetings relating to early and ongoing progressive mobility efforts/ programs that seek to
    identify risks and opportunities within the organization

Qualifications

Minimum Required: 

  • Experience as a Nurse Assistant, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Athletic Trainer, or equivalent in a healthcare setting.
  • 2 years of direct patient care

Education:

  • Certified Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapy Assistant, or Certified Nurse Assistant.

Preferred:

  • Experience in providing education, training, and providing care in the acute hospital or critical care settings preferred.
