Overview

Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. It is one of the area’s largest and most comprehensive medical centers. Dedicated to the community’s well-being our staff and volunteers provide excellence in care for our patients each year. Mercy San Juan Medical Center has received recognition for being a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery along with Certificates of Excellence in Perinatal Care Hip- and Knee- Replacement.


Responsibilities

The incumbent is a member of the health care team who is accountable for providing technical, and/or supportive services during diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures under the direct supervision of the Cath Lab Clinical Coordinator.

Job specific duties:
1.1 Clinical/Technical Skills: Utilizes technology, procedures, protocols, standards and interventions specific to assigned unit. Recognizes emergency situations (including life threatening arrhythmias) and responds effectively and appropriately. Notifies the RN/Physician with rhythm changes in a proactive approach. Validates clinical alarms. Anticipates patient/unit needs during emergency/code situations without requiring direction. Safely operates and maintains unit equipment. Operates radiographic equipment per title 17 and licensure. Operates hemodynamic monitoring; calibrates and maintains related equipment as needed; assists MD in procedures.
1.2 Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with computerized documentation system.
1.3 Organizational Skills: Uses appropriate organization, priority setting and problem solving skills. Recognizes, accepts and cooperates with direction from facility leadership.
1.4 Precepting/Mentoring: Participates in orientation of new staff and ancillary personnel in a constructive and positive manner.
1.5 Self-Development: Continues education by attending non-mandatory education offerings specific to area of practice. Maintains awareness of issues related to Cardiac care.
1.6 Patient Safety: Applies safety precautions and principles to patient care, including all applicable National Patient Safety Goals, and adherence to medication management policies and procedures.
1.7 Quality: Participates in unit, service line, and CHW Quality initiatives. Includes Patient Satisfaction and Core Measures.
1.8 Communication: Communicates clearly and effectively using proper communication etiquette. Uses medical terminology accurately. Includes reporting abnormal values or changes in patient condition to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
1.9 Safety: Maintains a safe working environment by utilizing appropriate resources, protocols, procedures, and communication to appropriate personnel.


Qualifications

REQUIRES:

  • 1 year cardiac catheterization laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of cardiac rhythms, and cardiac hemodynamics.
  • Registry Certified as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
  • ACLS
  • AHA BLS

PREFERS:

  • Radiology Technician with current x-ray and fluro license
