Job Details
Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. It is one of the area’s largest and most comprehensive medical centers. Dedicated to the community’s well-being our staff and volunteers provide excellence in care for our patients each year. Mercy San Juan Medical Center has received recognition for being a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery along with Certificates of Excellence in Perinatal Care Hip- and Knee- Replacement.
Responsibilities
Break Relief Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery
Mercy San Juan’s Family Birth Place is the level 3 within the greater Sacramento Dignity Hospitals. Our Family Birth Center is Joint Commission Certified for Perinatal Care and we follow the 10 steps to successful breastfeeding. FBC consists of a 12 bed labor unit, 2 OR’s, a 14 bed private postpartum unit, a PACU and 2 triage bays. We average 100-120 deliveries a month, and the department is supported by 8 Nurse Shift Managers, a Perinatal Safety Nurse and a Perinatal Nurse Educator.
The incumbent is a professional who provides and supervises care to individuals and families using a holistic approach. The nursing process is used as a structured mechanism for critical thinking and problem solving in providing effective and appropriate care within a safe and confidential environment from admission to discharge. Each RN is responsible for collaborating with members of the healthcare team providing leadership personal/professional development and conducting him/herself professionally.

Qualifications
This position is a break relief position, relieving unit RNs for lunches and breaks during the hours of 2100-0530.
Minimum:
- 1 year of Labor & Delivery RN experience
- Fetal monitoring experience required
- Current CA RN licensure BLS ACLS & NRP certificate from American Heart Association
- NCC fetal monitoring certificate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring course completion within 12 months of hire
- Cesarean Section experience preferred
