Responsibilities
  • Performs a range of self-directed support activities that contribute to the overall efficiency of the perioperative area(s). Work involves inventorying, disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, and maintaining operating room equipment. Assisting in maintaining a clean, sanitary, orderly OR environment, and transporting patients as required.
  • An incumbent is required to understand and apply Standard Precaution guidelines and other safety/security standards to all work activities. 
  • Assists with the flow of surgical instrumentation between processing and surgery; reads OR schedule, anticipates needs and sets-up OR with required supplies and equipment, for respective case(s).
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, sanitary and orderly OR environment.
  • Assists with patients, to include transporting and assisting with lifting, turning, positioning and preparing patients for surgical procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements

  • One year of related work experience in an acute care hospital that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.
  • Post-high school training specific to health care (i.e., central processing, health care assistant) preferred. Work experience in perioperative or as a military medic/corpsman is preferred. 

Licensure/Certification

  • Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.
