The purpose of Dignity Health Management Services Organization (Dignity Health MSO) is to build a system-wide integrated physician-centric full-service management service organization structure. Position Summary:


The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer II develops reports and data warehouses to monitor Population Health Services Organization's (PHSO) key performance indicators and meet regulatory reporting requirements by providing the necessary data to business stakeholders. This advanced role is responsible for creating and maintaining computer-based analytics solutions to support the company's financial, clinical, and operational projects.


Responsibilities may include:
- Support and maintenance of custom and third-party business intelligence applications, reviews business requirements, reviews system capabilities, analyzes product performance, determines product requirements, schedules software installation and upgrades, troubleshoots problems, trains end users, works with department directors, managers and end users to assess software application needs and provides input and recommendations to IT Management.
- Works closely with Business Analytics and Project Management staff to identify data requirements of both internal and external requestors and develop solutions to ensure that those requirements are met.
- Performs data extracts from databases in response to internal requests for data and/or reports, validates extracted data set to ensure that the requestor's needs are met, formats extracted data based on the requestor's requirements and provides report writing support to the organization by developing requested reports, assisting individuals with their report requirements, and instructing groups of users in classroom training sessions.
- Completes routine tasks related to database performance and maintenance, writing stored procedures, creating custom views and managing automated jobs.
- Designs, develops, tests, documents, implements and maintains data warehouses and reports, consults with current and proposed systems users to discuss and document requests for new and/or modified system changes, identifies design alternatives and recommends computer-based solutions. Drives data quality improvements through Python-based automation, implementing robust testing frameworks and monitoring solutions to optimize data reliability and performance.
- Project Planning, prepares routine project descriptions and needs assessments for new and/or enhanced system modifications.
- Assists with the administration of the company-wide data warehouse by performing validation on the warehouse data, populating data cubes for online analytical processing (OLAP) as required by company analysis needs, writing SQL statements to generate proper data extracts and train end users on 3rd-party OLAP tools.
- Performs less complex database and spreadsheet tasks associated with business intelligence including modifying OLAP cubes and data models, creating database queries and stored procedures, extracting, transforming and loading data and generating pivot tables or cross tabs.
- Provides routine support and maintenance of basic electronic data interchange (EDI) solutions, monitors and works EDI transaction sets on a daily basis ensuring accurate and timely communication of data, ensures the automated transfer of files, claims and requests to and from vendors and other partners, are received and processed according to specification, evaluates daily and weekly EDI transactions and takes appropriate action to resolve errors or discrepancies in a timely manner Develops new and modifies existing EDI transactions as directed. Ensures EDI policies and procedures comply with corporate policies and objectives.
- Establishes, develops, documents, and maintain EDI procedures including, management of document repository, identification of errors and corrective action, reconciliation of EDI transactions through coordination of information with internal and external customers, and trading partners.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of industry experience working in a role requiring knowledge and management of business intelligence concepts and processes is required. Experience in design, development, testing, documentation, implementation and maintainence of data warehouses and reports.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and third-party reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, Business Objects, or Cognos, and/or ETL tools such as Microsoft SSIS or BizTalk, and/or relational database management systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL.
  • Associate of Arts degree required with coursework including, but not limited to, database modeling, design, and querying, business information systems, business statistics, e-commerce systems, or related course.
  • Advanced knowledge of data governance, data management, data modeling, data cleansing, data extraction and transformation, data migration, data integration and data mapping.
  • Advanced knowledge of standard HIPAA EDI transaction sets and secure communications.
  • Ablity to write advanced SQL statements to generate proper data extracts and training end users on 3rdparty OLAP tools.
  • Ensures EDI policies and procedures comply with corporate policies and objectives.
  • Advanced understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of data information systems: Spreadsheet manipulation, management, and reporting Database structure and design Database querying, ETL, index management, and SQL performance tuning and monitoring Installation, implementation, integration, training, and support for custom and third-party software solutions.
  • Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, analysis, and scripting tasks.
  • Advanced skills in SQL for complex queries and database management.
  • Experience with at least one major BI tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and ability to develop advanced dashboards and reports.
  • Understanding of data modeling principles and experience in designing data models. Knowledge of ETL processes and tools for data integration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in SQL, Tableau, Power BI and Python is preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, management information systems, or a closely related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years advanced coursework or certifications in Python programming, data analysis, and database management. Professional experience in BI development or related roles, including Python scripting.
