Responsibilities

A CommonSpirit Health ER RNTraveler is a direct clinical patient care registered nurse (RN) who provides independent patient care within their scope of practice. The nurse is highly skilled in patient care; actively enhancing core nursing skills and developing advanced nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors through education and involvement in nursing activities beyond basic job requirements and responsibilities.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Job Responsibility 1:  EBP and Patient Care
    • Utilizes current evidence based practice knowledge, the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals across the lifespan and care continuum. Incorporates evidence when initiating changes to nursing practice.
  • Job Responsibility 2 Interprofessional Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborates and communicates with the interprofessional team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Uses the unique and complementary abilities of all members of the team to optimize attainment of desired outcomes.
  • Job Responsibility 3 Leadership
    • Maintains accountability for own practice, delegated care, and the coordination of care delivery. Fosters and contributes to the establishment of an environment that supports and maintains respect, trust and dignity.
  • Job Responsibility 4 Professionalism
    • Acquires and maintains knowledge in nursing practice and assumes responsibility for the professional development of self, other nursing staff and students.

Qualifications
  • Required Education and Experience

    • Minimum 3 years of recent experience as a registered nurse in an emergency services environment. ADN or Nursing Diploma required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

    Required Licensure and Certifications

    • Current unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse from the state(s) in which he or she will be practicing.  Compact state licensure required.
    • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). 
    • Other credentials may be required based on specialty and area(s) of assignment as specified by the requesting facility, state licensure and other regulatory requirements for local, state and federal agencies.
