Tax Analyst
The posted compensation range of $27.84 - $40.36 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Responsibilities
The Tax Analyst is responsible for preparing federal, state and local tax returns for CommonSpirit Health and our Regions based on information provided by Market, Region and National staff. The Tax Analyst will assist in other tax-related projects including the compilation of tax return data for the tax department.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
- Prepares tax returns in compliance with laws and CHI policies and procedures. This includes Forms 990, 990-T, 1120, 1065, 5227, state income tax, sales and use, and other tax and informational returns.
- Gathers data to facilitate the preparation of tax department filings. This includes running general ledger reports, community benefit reports, and various other tax schedules and tasks that facilitate the preparation of tax returns for the entire tax department.
- Assists with the development and implementation of a process to efficiently prepare tax returns.
- Assists with tax-related training and education of National staff members who participate in the tax return preparation process by means of email, phone calls, web conferences, etc.
- Assists in FAS 109 & ASC 740-10 computations for year-end audit.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent credits in accounting / finance) required, Master’s degree preferred. Requires at least 1-2 years of experience in income tax return preparation or accounting experience.
- Language Ability: High: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or complaints from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Math Ability: High: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Ability: High: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to identify inconsistencies and errors in logic that may indicate the existence of an issue. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with tax software, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
