The posted compensation range of $98.46 - $146.45 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary / Purpose

The System Director of Pharmacy Procurement and Analytics is responsible for developing the system-level strategy, vision, business and implementation plans to support pharmacy procurement, contracting, and system pharmacy analytics for optimization of safe, efficacious, cost-effective and reliable medication use and delivery at CommonSpirit Health.  

The role is accountable for all pharmacy procurement services within CommonSpirit Health. This person is responsible for managing, improving, and developing new and existing pharmacy business and operational functions and processes to support and optimize pharmaceutical procurement and contracting.  This position will work closely with other system and Regional leadership to ensure the development and implementation of procurement and operational best practices, contracting optimization and compliance, and management of and optimization of wholesaler relationships.  Additionally, this role will serve as the system leader for pharmacy revenue cycle functions through the creation and maintenance of data analytics and other resources to optimize margins and visibility of separately reimbursable drug expenses.  This role also develops the strategic plans and manages the system analytics team, which provides reliable data, analytics, reports and dashboards to support the Pharmacy Enterprise vision and mission and facilitate data-driven decisions. 

The role is accountable for managing and improving the strategy, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of all areas of responsibility. This position has accountability for fostering effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including pharmacy functional areas, Revenue Cycle, Procurement, Payer Strategy, Finance, Legal, Compliance, IT, Business Intelligence, Advocacy and vendors. 

This role is responsible for cost-effective medication procurement and pharmacy sourcing, contracting and optimizing medication delivery for CommonSpirit Health, the fourth largest pharmacy department in the country. The role will lead, develop key strategies, and be a primary pharmacy contact for the GPO (group purchasing organization) and leadership contact for pharmacy wholesalers and distributors. This position will oversee all pharmacy contracting and medication distribution and purchasing. This position directly supervises system managers that lead system-level contracting, distribution and data analytics activities for the Pharmacy Enterprise.  

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop system-wide strategies and vision to optimize and implement high-quality, high-performing clinical procurement services across CommonSpirit Health.
  • Lead all procurement services for improvements to achieve operational excellence, standardize processes and outcomes, improve pharmacy revenue, and reduce expenses.
  • Oversight of system-level Pharmacy Enterprise committees, compromised of subject matter experts from the regions, including the System Pharmacy Procurement and Operations Team (SPPOT)
  • Be accountable for the $1.2B annual medication spend and lead system-wide medication contracting, distribution and purchasing to optimize financial implications
  • Lead and develop key strategies for the group purchasing organization (GPO) and pharmacy wholesalers and distributors to optimize cost-effective medication contracting, reliable drug delivery, meaningful cost-reduction initiatives, and collaboration with other health systems (when possible) to support Common-Spirit Health goals. 
  • Oversees the advanced analytics support for the System and guide pharmacy reporting capabilities to support performance improvement and improve pharmacy business operations through enhanced reporting.

Job Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree or BS in pharmacy with graduate degree
  • 10 years of pharmacy or health-system experience, with at least 5 years of management experience; experience with pharmacy wholesaler and pharmacy contracting
  • Clinical pharmacy experience and completion of at least 1 year of pharmacy residency training
  • Active Pharmacist License in good standing from any state/territory within the United States
