Responsibilities

Provides overall leadership and oversight of CommonSpirit Health’s financial systems and is accountable for the project objectives that drive transformation, customer experience, and other initiatives as assigned by the System SVP-Corporate Controller. This role requires strong accounting, technology and leadership skills well as the ability to manage complex projects and lead a team of finance professionals.

The System Vice President - Financial Systems is responsible for the management of successful enterprise programs such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution and large-scale projects including planning, executing, monitoring and completion. The organization is currently implementing a new ERP solution as part of OneCommonSpirit critical priorities. This person is expected to collaborate and adapt best practice processes that will enhance controls and innovations that can improve efficiencies. This role also oversees program and individual project planning and the subsequent execution of these plans to improve the processes in the organization.


The System Vice President - Financial Systems is expected to work autonomously and interact with IT and finance leaders as well as various stakeholders at Corporate, Region and Market levels. Through collaboration, demonstrate team leadership while focusing on items that will have project outcome implications other than expected.


The role is a key contributor in the development of the organization’s transformation strategy and is responsible and accountable for delivering the best-practice approach designed to successfully plan and prepare for all aspects of project engagement, delivery and adoption within the assigned portfolio.

• Oversee financial systems including the general ledger governance, bolt-on systems that affect the organization’s operating and accounting systems (ERP), functional design and development, user testing and documentation and general ongoing support in partnership with IT leadership team.

• Develop a support and governance strategy for the portfolio of systems and projects that enable the Controllership/Finance Organizations achieve their objectives.

• Assess the financial system applications and tools used currently and develop a strategy for leveraging, simplifying, reducing complexity and costs in partnership with the corporate and segment technology leaders.

• Analyze problems, formulate solutions and alternatives, and in partnership with your clients, deliver solutions that achieve desired results timely and in a cost efficient manner.

• Anticipate and manage the risks associated with finance systems and processes. Ensure ongoing operational stability of the current applications and systems.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of the accounting system design, particularly related to data flow.

• Work closely with key decision makers to develop and implement a financial systems future-state roadmap.

• Keep apprised of new and innovative solutions.

• Strengthen and maintain controls and documentation over financial systems.

• Effectively lead and develop a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and skilled team.


Qualifications

Required Education and Experienece:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years of Finance/Accounting and IT experience including significant leadership responsibilities for a large scale, multi-divisional, multi-location, finance function systems.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

  • CPA is preferred
