The posted compensation range of $55.55 - $79.06 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a pivotal healthcare professional, delivering compassionate, high-quality care that truly impacts our patients' well-being and recovery.

  • Abuse Protection and Reporting: Assesses and identifies and reports patient abuse and neglect i.e.: physical assault, rape or other molestation, domestic, abuse and neglect of elders and children and implements department policies and procedures. Measurment: Feedback, Medical Record Review, Observation.
  • Advance Directives: Consistently and accurately documents education regarding advance directives upon admission, coordinates efforts to obtain copy of Advance Directives to place on chart, and refers questions to Chaplain Services. Measurement: Documentation, Feedback/ Observation, Medical Record Review.
  • Advocacy, Patient: Acts as the client's advocate, as circumstances require, by initiating action to improve health care or to change decisions or activities which are against the interests or wishes of the client, and by giving the client the opportunity to make informed decisions about health care before it is provided. Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Medical Record Review.
  • Assessment: Accurately formulates and prioritizes nursing diagnoses/patient problem lists through observation of the client's physical condition and behavior, and through interpretation of information obtained from the client and others, including the healthcare team within expected time frames. Measurement: Discussion, Feedback, Medical Record Review, Observation.
  • Blood Withdrawal: Correctly identifies patient and demonstrates correct, aseptic technique for withdrawal, labeling andprocessing of blood specimens. Measurement: Medical Record Review, Observation, Verbalization.
  • Color-Coded Wristband: Correctly identifies each color-coded wristband placed on patients on admission, assessment and reassessment because of specific risk factors/special needs and medical status. Measurement: Observation , Return Demonstration, Self-Learning Module Post Test, Discussion/Q&A, Quality Audit.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current California RN license (RN)
  • Current CPR certification (CT CPRBLS)
  • Current ACLS certification (CT ACLS)
  • Current PALS certification (CT PALS)
  • Three (3) to five (5) years circulating experience in Perioperative setting in multiple service-lines.

  • Demonstrates ability to work within a decentralized model of patient care delivery.
  • Demonstrates proficient advanced nursing skills and specialty skills.
  • Demonstrates a caring compassionate attitude toward others.
  • Ability to model the leadership role for the patient care team.
  • Demonstrates skills in appropriately delegating patient care tasks to other team members.
  • Extensive knowledge of CQI techniques and the ability apply these techniques in patient care.
  • Consistently demonstrates knowledge and utilization of CQI techniques in patient care improvement projects.
  • Demonstrates ability to chair and actively participates in unit leadership teams task forces or committees.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work efficiently.
  • Demonstrates clear and effective written and oral English language skills and objective active listening skills.
  • Knowledge of the concepts of Change Theory and the ability to identify the need for change and as well as the ability to apply these principles.
  • Ability to act as a role model and resource for all patient care team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others across all departments.

Serving over 40,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including emergency, heart, orthopedic, and cancer care.
