Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial intake assessments to determine the appropriate level of care using the ASAM criteria.
  • Develop individualized, strengths-based treatment plans in collaboration with clients.
  • Provide weekly individual and group counseling services utilizing evidence-based approaches, including CRA, CBT, and MI.
  • Facilitate parenting, relapse prevention, and recovery-focused group sessions.
  • Support 12-Step recovery participation and facilitate or refer to Al-Anon-informed groups.
  • Complete clinical documentation, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in accordance with NMAC and Medicaid standards.
  • Collaborate with case managers, peer support staff, and community partners to coordinate holistic care.
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals to higher levels of care as needed.
  • Participate in weekly case reviews, staff meetings, and clinical supervision.
  • Ensure culturally competent, family-centered service delivery aligned with trauma-informed principles.

Qualifications
  • Credential: LADAC or LSAA required. LPCC, LISW, LMHC, or LMSW preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of clinical experience in substance use, mental health, or dual diagnosis treatment setting.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with ASAM criteria, Medicaid documentation, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Skills: Strong clinical assessment, group facilitation, written communication, and collaborative care skills.
  • Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish; knowledge of parenting models and recovery-based frameworks.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Office, Individual and group counseling settings.
    • Flexible scheduling may be required to meet client needs, including some evening sessions.

Overview

Licensed Counselors at St. Joseph’s Recovery provide individual and group counseling services to adults participating in substance use and mental health recovery. This role includes responsibility for conducting intake assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating trauma-informed, evidence-based care. Counselors also support family engagement, parenting education, and coordination of wraparound services within a collaborative team environment.
