We are now accepting applications for the Spring 2023 new graduate RN Residency program at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health.
We are proud to offer the Vizient/ AACN Nurse Residency Program for our hospital inpatient units as well as some of our outpatient clinics. This is a national new graduate RN Residency program focused on supporting the new graduate nurse from entry level to competent professional nurse. The evidence-based curriculum provides emphasis on leadership, patient safety outcomes, and professional development.
Our program offers an individualized professional development plan and monthly seminars conducted during the first year of employment at Virginia Mason. Our Residency program will prepare you to successfully begin your career as a confident nursing professional. We offer Nurse Residency Cohorts twice a year, with flexible start dates. Opportunities are available in both hospital inpatient acute care areas such as Medical, Surgical and Telemetry as well as our ambulatory clinics. Opportunities in the outpatient setting will vary, but may include specialty clinics such as GI, Urology and Oncology.
As an ICU Nurse at our Level 1 Stroke and Cardiac Center, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, you'll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease. Responsibilities Manage complex patients requiring open heart & neurological surgery, neuro and cardiac interventional treatments, ventilator support, mechanical circulatory support, such as IABP, Impella & ECMO, CRRT, and other devices as necessary. Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e. Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients Maintains knowledge ofequipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e. IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices) Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms with necessary Initiates emergency support measures (i.e. . cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)

Most positions are full time (36-40 hours per week). This position is 7pm-7:30am (3) 12-hour shifts per week. This position requires working every other weekend.
- Current and valid Washington State Registered Nurse License is required before your start date.
- CPR certification is required every two years or as specified by the work.
- Other certifications may be required for specialty areas.
Preferred Qualifications: ACLS and BSN preferred.
