The posted compensation range of $26.25 - $35.20/hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Our services at Bailey Boushay House include a 35 bed inpatient program that focuses primarily on individuals who are experiencing end of life due to HIV, ALS, Huntington's Disease or cancer. Our outpatient program serves approximately 360 individuals who have HIV/AIDS complicated by homelessness, mental illness, justice system involvement and/or chemical dependency. We believe in putting the patient and their needs first..
Candidates should possess the willingness to work in a nontraditional position among patients in a milieu setting vs a job that is anchored at a desk. Since we are a 7 day a week operation, staff share weekend coverage on a rotational basis. Staff work together to produce a staffing schedule to meet the needs of the team. The Recreation Therapist is responsible for planning and coordinating life enrichment activites to medically-approved recreation programs for patients. As well, this position participates as a member of the rehabilitation team in care planning and conferences. The Recreation Therapist incorporates into VM programs best practices identified through on-going review of evidence-based research.

Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation required. Certification through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) as Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required. Registration as a Recreational Therapist by the state of Washington Department of Health required. Also required are: excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; excellent assessment, observation and problem solving skills; strong organizational skills; strong facilitation and motivational skills; working knowledge of community resources; and ability to use a PC and navigate software (e.g., MS Office).
Preferred: Two years experience in therapeutic recreation. Knowledge of dynamics of death and dying may be desired based on position.
