The posted compensation range of $21.66 - $30.99 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Environmental Services Technician, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe and sanitary healthcare environment. Your daily responsibilities will include thorough cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common spaces, covering both occupied rooms and those undergoing discharge or transfer.

You'll execute these tasks with a strong understanding of healthcare cleaning and disinfection principles, consistently demonstrating safe chemical handling and equipment operation. Adherence to all organizational safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines is paramount, as you'll actively contribute to a robust culture of safety. You'll also engage in departmental performance improvement initiatives, particularly those focused on enhancing patient experience and cleanliness standards.

Success in this position requires meticulous management of supplies, equipment, and waste disposal, always prioritizing strict adherence to infection prevention and safety protocols. You'll employcritical thinking and personal accountabilityto collaborate effectively with your team, performing various facility tasks and proactively resolving issues.


Job Requirements

Required

  • Ability to explain orally or in writing the differences between levels of disinfection and perform intermediate level disinfection in areas where required

  • Knowledge and skills in the use of power equipment, conventional and high-speed floor machines, carpet cleaning equipment, wet, dry and power vacuum equipment and push sweeper

  • Ability to operate necessary equipment/machines

  • Effectively uses computers and mobile devices

  • Respectfully listens to viewpoints and ideas of others

  • Communicates orally or in writing openly and candidly, creates an environment where co-workers and team members reciprocate in kind

  • Ability to work without close supervision.

Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Previous healthcare experience
