Responsibilities
In keeping with the CommonSpirit Health core values, the Surgical Technologist I is to function as a team member during the preoperative, intra-operative and postoperative phases of the surgical procedure.
Demonstrates intermediate to advanced skills appropriate to the role of Operating Room Technician. Demonstrates ability to work within a decentralized model of patient-care delivery. Demonstrates a caring, compassionate attitude toward others. Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. Demonstrates ability to work in a stressful environment while remaining calm, efficient, and focused. Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately, both in oral and written English. Actively participates in continuing education programs, unit-based task forces, and committees. Seeks opportunities for improving job knowledge and skills. Demonstrates ability to assume on call status as determined by department manager and according to department needs. Demonstrates ability to role model proficient intermediate or advanced technical skills and specialty skills. Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Demonstrates ability to operate common office equipment, including computers. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology and basic procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Requirements for a Surgical Technologist I are the following:
a) Recent graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist training school or Surgical Technologist training program in the OR;
b) Completion of a clinical internship rotation as part of a technologist training program;
c) Above average performance rating upon completion of a clinical internship rotation; and,
d) Completion of Surgical Technologist certification within six (6) months of graduation from Surgical Technologist training school or Surgical Technologist training program. Completion of a Surgical Technologist Training course - Surgical Technologist certification required
- BLS certification required.
Preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year recent hospital experience in the capacity of an Operating Room Surgical Technician.
