Responsibilities
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Dietitian to join our team at Dignity Health – St. Bernardine Medical Center. As a Dietitian, you will conduct patient screenings in accordance with specialized clinical guidelines for those at specific nutritional risk. You will complete thorough nutrition assessments and diagnoses, considering the clinical condition, varied needs of age-specific populations, and cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. Using your clinical judgment, you will identify malnutrition and other nutrition diagnoses, closely monitor and evaluate patient nutrition status, and update plans of care as necessary. You will promote a positive patient experience by maintaining communication with patients, staff, and guests, and providing excellent customer service.
Your role will support patient interactive positions such as dietitians and diet clerks, and provide for the operational needs of these positions. You will collaborate in maintaining regulatory compliance (including TJC, CMS, state-specific departments of health, etc.) and infection control practices. Additionally, you will help maintain adequate staffing for clinical daily needs, reflecting cost efficiency.
You will implement targeted and specific nutrition interventions based on specific medical conditions, conduct motivational interviews, and provide customized nutrition education to patients, families, and caregivers. As a member of the multi-specialty interdisciplinary care team, you will actively participate in contributing to overall patient care.
You will also collaborate in the process of menu development for patient, cafeteria, and catering services, support the management of the facility diet manual, and ensure patient diet and nutritional compliance. Participation in hospital committees, such as Quality and P&T committees, will also be part of your responsibilities. You may also act as the highest-ranking Registered Dietitian as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree with completion of accredited dietitian program (ACEND - Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition Dietetics.)
- Experience with specific patient populations (e.g. pediatric bariatric ICU etc.) may be required. Two (2) years of experience as a hospital clinical dietitian.
- Valid registration as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Current (within the past 12 months) ServSafe® Allergen and Food Handler Certifications. If not currently certified certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
