Roseburg is located on Interstate 5 in Southern Oregon's scenic Douglas County. The community is nestled in a lush forested region known as the 100 Valleys of the Umpqua. Responsibilities

Shift: Casual Part-Time, Varied

Job Summary:

Primary function of position provides ongoing observation either through in person or through Camera/Monitor technology of patients on suicide prevention watch as a result of identified risk factor and high risk patient fall risk.

Essential Duties Include the Following:

Sitter Duties:

  • Must maintain visible contact with the patient at all times
  • Promptly communicates all patient requests to assigned staff
  • Documents utensils into and out of patient room
  • Observes the client for general physical, emotional, and mental conditions and reports all changes in condition
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • Provide diversional activities as designated by an assigned staff

Remote Monitoring Duties:

  • Provides ongoing observation through Camera/Monitor technology of patients on suicide prevention watch as a result of identified risk factors and high risk fall risk patients.
  • Ensures pertinent patient data is brought to the attention of appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Notifies the appropriate staff nurse immediately if a change in patient activity occurs.
  • Receives report for the Sitter/Monitor staff on the previous shift and gives an accurate report to the oncoming Sitter/Monitor.
  • Identifies and immediately reacts appropriately to all life-threatening patient actions.
  • Observes and records all patient activity every 15 minutes.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Communication and interpersonal skills in relating to public and peers.
  • Organizational skills. 
  • Remote monitor training can begin upon successful completion of sitter role competency.
