Responsibilities

SUMMARYBarrow Neurological Institute (St Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center) in Phoenix, AZ is currently seeking a Medical Physicist for full time employment. Preferred: ABR Certification and experience with SRS/SBRT, IMRT/VMAT, Eclipse, ARIA, TrueBeam, CyberKnife, Gamma Knife. 

   The candidate will be joining a culturally diverse team of 3-4 ABR certified physicists and 1-2 certified medical dosimetrist.  The physics/dosimetry team serve the Truebeam (with ExacTrac), Gamma-Knife, Cyberknife, and Zap-X Surgical facility of St Joseph’s Hospital and Barrow Neurological Institute located in the same campus. Truebeam SRS/SBRT cases are planned by physicists and/or dosimetrists, depending on individual comfort levels. Physicists plan and cover Gamma-Knife, CyberKnife, and Zap-Surgical cases. As part of Barrow Neurological Institute, we currently specialize in brain, spine and head and neck cases.

Facility and Equipment:

   We are equipped with a Varian Truebeam (with BrainLab ExacTrac Dynamic), Elekta Gamma Knife Icon, Accuray Cyberknife VSI with Precision TPS, Zap-X Surgical, Zeiss IntraBeam IORT (clinical trial) and Philips Big Bore CT. We also have several GE and Philips MRI units that are used for treatment planning. We utilize Eclipse, Precision and Leksell Gamma Plan for radiotherapy and stereotactic radiosurgery planning, and ARIA as our record and verify system. Our QA equipment includes SRS MapCheck, ArcCheck, IC Profiler, DailyQA3, Blue Phantom 2 water tank and Mobius3D/FX.  A Flexitron HDR treatment unit and Oncentra are also in-house but are run by a sister physicist/dosimetrist team. We are looking forward to moving into our new BNI Radiation Oncology facility with brand new equipment at the end of 2024.

Qualifications

MINIMUM

Master's degree in radiation physics or related field

Two years of clinical medical physics experience

Must be board eligible for American Board of Radiology (ABR) Therapeutic Medical Physics Certificate or obtain certificate within 30 months of hire or transfer.
