Responsibilities

SUMMARY - The Genetic Counselor works as a member of a health care team providing risk assessment, education and supportive counseling to individuals and families at risk for; or diagnosed with a variety of inherited conditions. The Genetic Counselor will interpret genetic testing, support clinically-related genetics research and serve as an institute and community resource for aspects and issues related to human genetics.


Qualifications

MINIMUM
Two years experience in genetic counseling
Masters degree in genetics counseling or related field
Basic computer skills
Knowledge of Genetic pedigree drawing programs

Board certification in genetic counseling by the American Board of Medical genetics

PREFERRED
Two or more years experience in genetic counseling, specifically with oncology
Previous training in oncology
