Program Coordinator – Trauma Administration

Under general supervision, the Trauma Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the care of the trauma designated patient at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, assuring optimal care throughout their hospitalization, communicating the plan of care with patients and families, and facilitates discharge planning.


Responsibilities

  • Uses theoretical and empirical knowledge of physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and health assessment,
    supporting the plan of care.
  • Manages trauma population disease states based etiologies to improve and to promote health care outcomes.
  • Monitors and evaluates clinical protocols, standards of care, practice guidelines, and policies and procedures within the
    scope of trauma care.
  • Implements house-wide initiatives using research and evidence-based practice that improves patient outcomes and
    quality of care for trauma patients throughout Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
  • Participates in nursing and multidisciplinary groups in implementing innovative patient care programs that address patient
    care issues across the continuum of care.
  • Uses nursing therapeutics, in combination with medical therapeutics, where appropriate that result in synergistic patient
    outcomes.
  • Facilitates resolution of clinical practice issues affecting patient care.
  • Perform tertiary assessment for admitted trauma patients.
  • Assess patient's clinical status daily and document in the medical record, including discharge plan.
  • Assesses appropriateness of medical and nursing interventions.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with current California license required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing School/Program RN with BSN preferred
  • At least two (2) years experience as a Registered Nurse caring for trauma patients in the emergency department or intensive care unit setting.  Adult expeirence requried.  
  • Above average interpersonal, communication, negotiation, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Must have fluent English language skills (verbal and written). Must be committed to quality patient/customer service.
  • AHA BLS required.
  • Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) card required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) card required within 90 days of hire.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • TNCC required within 6 months of hire
  • LA City Fire Safety Card Required within 90 days from hire.
