Clinical Lab Scientist - Microbiology
Northridge Hospital Medical Center
Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Lab Scientist to join our dynamic team in the Microbiology department. We are committed to providing high-quality patient care and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of microbiological procedures, including:
- Bacterial culture and identification
- Antimicrobial susceptibility testing
- Mycology and parasitology testing
- Molecular diagnostics
- Blood cultures
- Quality control and instrument maintenance
- Analyze and interpret laboratory results, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all procedures and results.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols.
- Assist with training and mentoring of new staff members.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree required.
- 1 year Previous experience required.
- Continuing education lectures and courses to keep knowledge current as required.
- Must have experience reading different culture types and setting up cultures traditional and molecular based.

- Chemistry
- Blood Bank
- Microbiology
- Immunology and Serology as applicable.
- California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or Limited California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
- California Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License
- California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License are required and ASCP registry preferred.
- LA Fire card is required. (Must obtain within 90 days of hire date. Classes offer at hospital)
