Consistent with scope of licensure, parameters of the California Nurse Practice Act, and Mercy Medical Center (MMC) policy and procedure, renders direct and indirect nursing care to assigned patient populations. Applies Dignity Health Core Values to the performance of every job duty. This position is responsible for evaluating palliative care services in maintaining a strong relationship with physicians and hospital staff to deliver palliative and comfort care to chronically ill and dying patients. To enhance the delivery of palliative care direct and indirect education in standards quality improvement activities, consultation and care management will be implemented. This position is responsible for promoting high quality, cost effective care for palliative care patients. Patient age populations served, and the specific competencies that comprise this job title may vary among nursing units.
- Must possess and maintain a current Registered Nurse license with the State of California
- One year of recent palliative and/or hospice experience.
- Must attend and pass the End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) class within one year of employment
- BSN must be obtained within 3 years of hire
- Knowledge of InterQual criteria
- Three years of recent acute care experience/hospital clinical experience.
