Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the Market Director of Respiratory Services, established departmental policies and procedures, and specific instructions, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides care to those suffering from acute and chronic respiratory disease. Maintains patient safety through attention to detail, equipment safety checks, adherence to department policies, and effective communication with physicians, staff and patients. Provides patient orientation, procedure explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of test. Assists patients with basic patient care needs. Displays professional, safe conduct in all interactions. Maintains positive working relationships with staff, other departments, physicians and peers. Displays conduct in support of CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial Mission & Vision
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Level:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Completion of a Respiratory Care Degree Program which is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.
Licensure/Certification:
- Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) through the Texas Medical Board (TMB)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association which must be obtained within 90 days of hire/transfer
