Responsibilities

The Sonographer is responsible for the production of quality ultrasound imaging of various parts of the body to assist the medical practitioner in the detection of illness, disease, or injury.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the production of high quality images in ultrasound. Performing imaging tests following approved policies & procedures in accordance with provider and/or radiologist orders
  2. Dependable, reliable and can relate positively and professionally with patients, visitors and facility staff.
  3. Performing quality control; quality assurance and preventative maintenance
  4. Able to work independently as well as in an interdepartmental setting (including inpatient, outpatient, portable and OR)
  5. Strong patient care and customer services skills
  6. Patient safety, education, staff safety
  7. Demonstrate organizational & multi-tasking ability and time management skills
  8. Utilizes EMR, RIS, and PACS; efficient computer skills
  9. Perform all assigned tasks proficiently; manage patient flow-preparation, procedure and charges
  10. Provide proper patient information, medical history, and perform necessary duties in accordance with policies and procedures (obtain adequate patient medical information/data)
  11. Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Required

Graduate from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and/or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) certification and/or established hospital/clinical experience in sonography with a willingness to become certified.

Must obtain certification with A.R.D.M.S. within 90 days of employment.

Vascular certification required within 6 months of hire.

Must obtain CPR certification within 90 days of employment.

Credentialed by the ARDMS in one or more of the following certifications: AB(Abdomen), OB/GYN (obstetrics and gynecology), BR(Breast) and RVT(vascular technology)

* Regardless of other certifications, RVT must be obtained within 6 months of hire and must maintain that certification through-out employment.
