Responsibilities
Clinical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for all functions in the Laboratory relative to the performance of laboratory tests to provide data in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, including analyzing specimens on automated equipment. Clinical Laboratory Scientist also maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment.
1.1 Analyzes various samples in all departments of the Laboratory, following standard procedures.
1.2 Assesses the validity of results obtained according to age and sex, accurately records and reports results.
1.3 Documents problems in the Laboratory and solves and/or suggest corrective action(s).
1.4 Performs routine calibration and adjustment of equipment, checks standardization curves.
1.5 Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis.
1.6 Performs and assesses quality control with each test to verify accuracy and reproducibility of tests; if out of control, takes corrective action.
1.7 Assists in instructing or supervising of less skilled laboratory personnel; may direct the daily activities in the absence of the manager.
1.8 Performs preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
1.9 Assists in preparing reagents and solutions and in maintaining an adequate level of reagents and supplies.
1.10 Administers and reads skin tests.
1.11 Ensures compliance with state, CAP and JCAHO regulations.
Qualifications
REQUIRES:
- Knowledge of laboratory and section policies and procedure. Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation.
- Current California CLS license
