The Clinical Informaticist is responsible for providing leadership, clinical understanding, and support to the planning, coordination, implementation and sustainment of clinical health information technology (HIT).  Works collaboratively with, but not limited to,  clinicians, physicians, Regional CNO,  Medical Informaticist Lead and IT to ensure that the needs of the patient care areas are met and project timelines, milestones, and deliverables are on target with the overall clinical IT strategy.  Provides input regarding the IT system and the impact on existing clinical standards, processes and forms in such a way as to gain support and buy-in from staff to successfully implement and sustain clinical HIT.  Position requires an understanding of clinical processes and HIT needs of the clinical disciplines.   Will provide guidance of ongoing strategy based on new models of care and optimization of systems, system integration, workflow analysis, analytics, research, outcomes and metric tracking and quality reporting.  Demonstrates organizational and communication skills in dealing with patients, families, physicians, & other health care workers.



Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Healthcare Informatics, or Business Administration or a combination of education and/or additional job related experience

Two (2) year’s work experience in a clinical care setting

Proficiency in understanding regulatory and other compliance based rules including but not limited to Joint Commission, CMS, and MU.  

Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally particularly with business intelligence (data), quality, MU, compliance and clinical teams, including provider/physician leaders.     

Exhibits advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to observe, analyze and interpret general, technical and clinical data (verbal and written). 

Proficiency in the use of computer applications including EHR required or to be obtained

Knowledge and understanding of clinical documentation, informatics, clinical terminology and clinical models required or to be obtained

Strong communication and organization skills required

Experience with Electronic Medical Records.

Proficiency in the use of computer applications including EHR required or to be obtained.

 Strong Written and verbal communication skills. 

Ability to train all levels of users on the Electronic Medical Records.

Organizational skills.  

Ability to problem solve.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to work with minimal supervision
