Responsibilities

This is a remote opportunity. 

The Release Manager assists with the Digital and Human Experiences’ Release Management lifecycle to implement and manage release processes for the progression of in-house written software code in the lower and production environments.  The role represents the Digital and Human Experiences team on the Change Advisory Board and coordinates the teams’ go live activities, and manage incremental Hot Fix events.  Works collaboratively with all participants in software development projects as well as the CommonSpirit Health Change Management team, and is supportive of developers and testers as they set up their build dev/test environments. This position also works with IT management to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments.

Responsibilities

  • Forward plan multiple release windows and cycles across the org
  • Manages risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality
  • Interacts with Senior Technology Development Managers, Program/Project Managers, Development Leads, QA Manager and the team to develop and execute a solid Release Strategy
  • Ensures process capability, control and improvement by developing and implementing relevant quality assurance procedures
  • Assists in managing projects and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence to ensure the integrity of the release can be measured. The releases can be inclusive of application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades
  • Responsible for implementing and managing release processes for the progression of code in the development, test, staging, and production environments
  • Responsible for continually improving the release process
  • Maintains/upholds a release repository/source to manage key information like build and release procedures, notification lists, and dependencies
  • Researches latest configuration management and software development technologies and analyze current configuration management requirements
  • Conducts Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
  • Communicates release details and schedules to various teams and stakeholders as required
  • Negotiates, plan and manage all release activities
  • Leads and co-ordinates the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists
  • Leads the development of scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms Develop processes and tools that encourage continuous performance improvements
  • Displays efficient work style with attention to detail, organization, and strong sense of urgency
  • Coordinates with the release engineers in order to understand the consequences of code merges and branches.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • SAFe SP Certification preferred (SAFe for Teams)
  • DevOps Institute Continuous Delivery Ecosystem Foundation preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 3+ years previous release management experience (5+ preferred)
  • 4+ years Software Change Management experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development
  • 3+ years of experience working with SCM tools such as SVN, GIT, etc.
  • Experience with cloud architecture and digital solutions (Azure preferred)
  • Experience with Azure release pipelines, ART Templates, Teraform, Kudu
  • Experience automating build/release pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc.
  • Experience with code management and development tools such as GIT/Bitbucket, VSCode, VStudio, Eclipse, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
  • Deep familiarity with bug / issue tracking systems, preferably Jira and Azure DevOps

A compensation range of $89,000 - $116,000 is the reasonable estimate that CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
