Responsibilities

$10,000.00 Sign on Bonus

  • Maintains and is proficiency with all cardiac ultrasound equipment and procedures performed at Mercy.
  • Instructs and educates patient regarding the ordered test and prepares the             patient for the procedure.
  • Performs cardiac sonography procedures using sterile technique in the OR setting.
  • Uses the Hospital and Department information systems to complete patient testing records and billing procedures.
  • Transports and manipulates patients as necessary to complete echocardiography studies.
  • Monitors patient status during testing.
  • Injects ultrasound contrast media when indicated.
  • Maintains department records.
  • Demonstrates customer service/interpersonal skills.
  • Covers on-call shifts as scheduled including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.
  • Completes department competencies in the required timeframes.
  • Assists with the evaluation and maintain adequate inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Performs QA activities as directed.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and well-organized work environment.
  • Assists in answering the phone
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or G.E.D.
  • Graduate of an accredited 2-year Cardiac Sonography training program or an equivalent on the job training program.
  • ARDMS registry as a Cardiac Sonographer. Preferred in the first year of employment.
  • Mandatory Reporter within 3 months of hire.
  • Current BCLS certification.
