The posted compensation range of $22.89 - $33.20 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Responsibilities
MercyOne is looking for a Full Time DAY shift Polysom Technologist to join the team!

Job Summary:
Performs diagnostic sleep procedures for patients as ordered by a physician, and in accordance with established protocols, standards and practices.
Work includes:
1) Laboratory set-up
2) Patient preparation
3) Performing, observing and evaluating daytime and overnight polysomnograms,
4) Staging / scoring sleep study
5) Assisting in the tabulation of data from scored records, and
6) Monitoring and checking equipment for possible changes/adjustments as necessary during the study.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Sleep Lab Director and requires thorough knowledge of the function and safe operation of equipment used to monitor and record breathing (airflow/effort), electroencephalograms (brain waves), electrocardiograms (heart rate and rhythm), electromyograms (muscle activity), and pulse oximetry (blood oxygenation / saturation).
Incumbents are also accountable for maintaining their skills and knowledge by participating in conferences, technical meetings, and other educational activities as required by their certification of registration and participating in departmental quality assurance programs within the scope of hospital-wide program.
Essential Duties:
- Gather and analyze patient information. Verify documentation and physician orders.
- Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments, if necessary.
- Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic (CPAP, BIPAP) polysomnography, MSLT and MWT.
- Performs polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free and make adjustments, if necessary.
- Performs routine PAP mask fitting.
- Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
- Educates patient on equipment, tracks equipment and produces report for physicians; cleans and prepare equipment for next use.
- Completes all required documentation in accordance with department protocol.
- Maintains laboratory with supplies and keeps equipment in clean operating condition.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Successful completion of an American Board of Sleep Medicine (AMSM) accepted educational program leading to an Associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography, OR
- Successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one year duration associated with a state licensed and /or nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities required.
License/Certification:
- Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography OR successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one year duration associated with a state licensed and/or nationally accredited educational facility OR equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technologist.
- Certification by a nationally recognized certification board as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). Licensed by the State of Iowa as a Polysomnographic Technologist.
- Maintain the RPSGT credential and the State Licensure through educational activity as outlined by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) and State of Iowa.
