Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael, California, serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. It is one of the area’s largest and most comprehensive medical centers. Dedicated to the community’s well-being, our staff and volunteers provide excellence in care for our patients each year. Mercy San Juan Medical Center has received recognition for being a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery, along with Certificates of Excellence in Perinatal Care, Hip- and Knee- Replacement.


Responsibilities

$15,000 - Sign On Bonus offered for new hires. Per policy, current employees are not eligible.

Our Level 3 NICU features sixteen (16) new private rooms and eight (8) 3-bed pods. Bed spaces include a sleep chair where a parent can stay 24/7.  We use state-of-the-art Giraffe Omni beds, Babylog VN500 vents and HFOVs to care for infants with birth weights as low as 450 grams. The unit has the capability of providing whole body cooling for infants suffering from HIE, and we offer Nitric Oxide for care of PPHN in extremely sick newborns. Here are highlights of our new expanded Neonatal Nurse Practitioner role:

  • Of the 40 bed unit, 16 are private rooms where a parent can stay 24/7 at the bedside in a sleep chair
  • The remaining rooms are 3 bed pods.
  • Our NNPs are part of the regional transport team serving 5 hospitals
  • Close initial partnership with Mercy Hospital of Folsom
  • Our NNP role manage neonates from admission to discharge
  • We serve a culturally diverse population and have a very stable physician group
  • Our NNPs will work independently, rescuing patients at our hospitals and mentoring nurses and families in their infant’s care.

Position Summary:

The incumbent is responsible for clinical management of the high-risk neonate and infant, educational responsibilities, administrative duties, consulting, and initiating/implementing research. The neonatal nurse practitioner works in collaboration with medical, nursing and support services to provide family centered care to high-risk infants in a manner consistent with the Mission and Philosophy of Dignity Health.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • At least 3 years’ experience as an RN in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • Graduate of an approved nurse practitioner program
  • Master’s degree in nursing or educational preparation and clinical experience that is equivalent to graduate degree
  • Current CA RN license and CA Nurse Practitioner license
  • AHA BLS, NRP certificate and NCC-NNP (National Certification Corporation card)
  • Current NP Furnishing Number
  • Current DEA number or pending DEA# application
  • DEA # must be obtained within 3 months of hire
