CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services.  CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota - Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S.D. CHI St. Alexius Health offers a comprehensive line of inpatient and outpatient medical services, including: a Level II Trauma Center, primary and specialty physician clinics, home health and hospice services, durable medical equipment services, a fitness and human performance center and ancillary services throughout western and central North Dakota.

Responsibilities

Works under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individual patient care in the clinic according to policies and procedures while maintaining standards of the state Nurse Practice Act. The nurse assists physicians and nurse practitioners in clinical duties to ensure patients and families receive the highest quality care and knowledge promoting patient wellness. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to promote optimal patient outcomes.
  • Meets the educational needs of patient/family/co-workers utilizing principles of teaching/learning
  • Provides documentation of patient care in medical record
  • Performs vital sign assessments
  • Completes medication reconciliation for patients
  • Completes nursing assessment for patients
  • Assists patients and physicians with medication refill process

Qualifications

Education: Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.

Licensure: License to practice as a registered nurse in the state of North Dakota

Experience: Minimum one year hospital experience or clinical nursing experience in psychiatry preferred.

Skills: Working knowledge of basic clinical skills in delivery of patient care.  Able to perform effectively in emergency and stressful situations and completes nonviolent crisis intervention course within six (6) months of employment.

Interpersonal Skills: Good communication skills are necessary because of the constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors and Medical Center staff.  Accountable for own       conduct.  Promotes and supports positive working relationships among coworkers and all of the     Medical Center staff.  Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.

Physical Effort: Light: Infrequently involves a physical effort of 20 pounds. Frequently requires a

physical effort of 10 pounds or less. Walking/Carrying: 2.5 MPH, no grade; slower speed with 10 lbs. or less Typical Energy Required: 2.5 Mets

Hours of Work:Day shift, variable hours

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Other: Limited exposure to blood-borne pathogens.  Limited exposure to infectious diseases. Potential exposure to mechanical, electrical, and environmental hazards. CPR is required.
