Responsibilities
The Mental Health Technician is defined as a member of the healthcare team who is accountable for patient care supportive services under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Has access to keys for locked unit and patient belongings safe.
Mental Health Technician will support the milieu, conduct groups as needed or directed by staff, will support patients with snack time, bathroom visits, will conduct Q15 safety checks, room checks, after visit checks, will support with cleaning up activities area, supporting social work team on rooms coordination and other assigned duties and tasks. Mental Health Technician will also support with intake of patient to units and vitals of the patients.
Additionally, Mental Health Technician will also support patient who need a sitter or one to one supervision. MHT will also assist staff to de-escalation patients and provide a therapeutic environment.
Qualifications
Minimum
- High School Graduate or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one (1) year mental health worker experience working with psychiatric patients either in an inpatient or residential setting required.
- Current AHA BLS card.
Preferred
Minimum 1 year of acute patient care experience preferred.
