As a Mental Health Technician at  Northridge Hospital Medical Center now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health you’ll help our patients and their families feel comfortable and educated when they’re making significant healthcare decisions. Our patient population needs hands-on nursing to be able to identify patient needs when they are not able to articulate what they are experiencing.  You’ll build trust in these interactions by advocating supporting and educating your patients and their families. Your success in this role comes from your empathy and patience to help others during a vulnerable time in their lives. You’ll get to be involved in patient improvement that can take a patient from disorientation to opening up and sharing their personality.

The Behavioral Health unit at Northridge Hospital Medical Center is actively seeking individuals who demonstrate patient care excellence. 


Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient/family care needs from admission to discharge.
  • Monitor patient on Q15 min. observations including (Q5 LOS and 1:1 obs.)
  • Accurately monitor and record patient VS and intake and output and daily activities including patio breaks.
  • Assist Nurses with patient care to include Groups Activities of daily living as needed
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with patients in crisis situations and assist RNs with restraining patients
  • Assist in maintaining adequate stocks and supplies items
  • Assist with cleaning functions to maintain unit
  • Keep medical record updated including legal requirements
  • Documents according to policy and procedure standards and guidelines


Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one (1) year mental health worker experience working with psychiatric patients either in an inpatient or residential setting required.

  • Current AHA BLS card.

  • Must maintain current Fire Safety cards. .

  • CNA or EMT Preferred

This position is represented by SEIU  UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement
