Responsibilities
  • Responsible for implementing engineering based solutions that conform and align to the guideposts/direction provided by the Enterprise Architecture team.
  • Provide feedback to the engineering manager on improving the availability, security, compliance, interoperability, performance, and cost of the WAN infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with other Infrastructure teams to develop or clarify deliverables that would be delegated to network engineering.
  • Lead and participate in proof-of-concept activities for technology assessments, communicate findings, and propose implementation and adoption timelines.
  • Will be considered a subject matter expert for various network engineering disciplines and will be an escalation resource for Tier3 operations related to these disciplines.
  • Enforce adherence to IT standards in design processes and audit the production network for exceptions to these standards.
  • Be available for potential onsite travel (20%) to assess facility readiness, assist with project pre-work tasks, perform network implementation work and oversee work being done by 3rd party implementation teams.
  • Mentor colleagues on the network engineering team and possess a demeanor that is open and approachable.
  • Remote eligible.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Computer Science, Technology, or Business discipline or equivalent experience is required. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional IT experience in an IT technical or infrastructure field is required, with healthcare industry experience strongly desired.
  • 5+ years network engineer experience with Cisco technologies in large Enterprise environment (over WAN connected 100 locations)
  • 7+ years network operations experience with Cisco technologies in large Enterprise environment (over WAN connected 100 locations)
  • 12 years minimum combined career experience
  • Must be a quick learner, an innovator, adaptable to change, results-oriented, and committed to hitting milestones on an aggressive multi-year roadmap.
  • Must be able to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely to leadership.
  • Must have strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge of the standard aspects of large Enterprise networks including:

    • WAN (MPLS, MetroEthernet, BGP, QoS, protocol mutual redistribution, vrf, Cisco SD-WAN,  underlay/overlay, OMP)
    • LAN (Spanning-tree, SVI, 802.1q, HSRP, Etherchannel, Nexus VDC and vPC, EIGRP, OSPF, ACI, DHCP, MCAST)
    • WLAN (Cisco Unified Wireless, Prime Infrastructure)

Highly Preferred Skills:
  • Understanding of VOIP and Unified Communication
  • Service Now
  • Python programming
  • Familiarity with Ansible playbooks
  • Linux shell / bash scripts
  • Excel or Google Sheet formulas
